My friend wants me to enter a triathlon with her. Ok, so it's a beginner one. I think it's a 200 yard swim and a 5k run and a 6 mile bike ride. So kind of wimpy to anyone who's in decent shape, but I'm not! So I'm scared... I decided to do it, and now I'm ALL worried about the swim. I can go do lap swim at surf and swim before the kids wake up. But I'm totally intimidated. I have no idea what proper form and all that crap is. But I think since it's short, it will be a good way for me to learn. I've always wanted to train for a triathlon, so I guess it's better then starting with a real one and then being the lady who dies from it!

Wait...so you mean these things are real?
As we were leaving Albertsons, I was taking Elis monkey backpack off to put him in his car seat. The spot next to mine was empty, and as soon as i got the back pack off of him he took off into the spot. Just then this lady in an Expedition swooped into the spot, right as i was grabbing him. she missed him by an inch! I was so mad i was shaking! So I slowly put my bags in the back, waiting for her to get out. She never did, she just sat there until I was driving away.. I wanted to yell at her so bad. Sometimes I think people feel like they are really just playing a video game instead of driving a real life car that can crush people.

Germs good?
So today on I think it was Good Morning America, they were talking about how because of people being such germ phobes and always using antibacterial soap and disinfecting everything, people are starting to develop auto immune diseases and have more allergies, because our bodies aren't being exposed to enough germs, so that they can build up their defenses.( yeah, I realize that was a run on sentence, lol) They believe it's that combined with all of the chemicals in the air, in the produce and in our meat. ( Non-organic food) Kind of scary that we're weakening ourselves unknowingly. So I guess what I'm really saying here is that maybe my non-emaculate house keeping may actually be good for my family? LOL

I finally figured out how to change my blog template. I'm on the technology illiterate side of people. When I started this blog, I thought well this will be a good substitute for scrap booking. Turns out, if you're a lazy scrap booker, you're probably a lazy blogger too. I've also realized that a few people actually look at it too, so I decided I'd better put some effort into it! LOL

Such a great picture!
Toni took this of Eli last summer(07). It's one of my all time favorite pictures. Toni is a photography prodigy.

Bathtub family pictures
In Vogue, I saw a pic of some model in the tub with her kids, I thought it would make an interesting family picture. Shar did a great job!

Parenthood...
I have been thinking about how before I had children, my life was mostly spent doing things for myself. And occasionally I would do things for other people. I've realized that being a parent puts you in the position to be doing the opposite. If I would have thought of this pre-kid, I may have thought "Ugh, seriously, that sucks!" But as I was changing Olivers diaper last night at midnight and giving him a little mid-night snack, I actually felt happy to be doing these little things for him that will make him more comfortable and happy. I realized that doing the things we do as parents for our children are as much for us as they are for them. A light bulb went off in my head, making somebody else happy, brings more joy and satisfaction then making oneself happy!! I'm so grateful for my children, they have changed me in so many ways, it's unbelievable.

Trip to the zoo!
We met Kris and Alex and nick at the zoo last week. It was pretty fun. Eli enjoyed watching the leopard(or whatever that is) stalk back and forth. It was pretty funny, it would go back and forth and bare it's teeth at the kids and they would run and scream! Kris could only stay for his lunch break, but he packed alot of animal spotting in with eli. (Such a good dad if i do say so myself!)

Like riding a bike...
I finally got to go snowboarding on tuesday, it was wonderful! I went up to logan to meet my friend Audrey and we went to beaver. There were a few inches of new snow and the sun was out. Thanks to Toni I had decent goggles and snowboard and stuff. I am now an equipment snob, it was so much funner with good stuff. I was so excited when on my first run i picked it right back up! It was the best day, it made me feel a little less like a geeky minivan mom. I had better make a point to go at least once a year, until i can go more often, just to remind myself that i can still do it.
