Getting caught up. A little.

Blogging makes me so frustrated. I'll get an entire post typed up with pictures and all, and somehow, I'll ALWAYS lose it. Thirty minutes of work gone... All the time. Anyways here goes again, because I feel like this is something that I really need to do. If I lose it again, I'm totally going old school scrapbook style. I Feel that time is slipping away from me. The months are feeling more like weeks, and I feel frantic to capture some of this fleeting precious time in our families life.

Here is the main inspiration for this random, out of the blue post. My little teeny-tiny. Little miss Lenny. She started to crawl last week, and it made me panic a little. Time is slipping away faster than I'm prepared for it to. This little woman is the sweetest cutest thing, and yet at the same time, there is no doubt that she has a lot of fight in her. Boy, she's going to need it too. She is destined to be coddled by me, her whole life. (Hey, look at me, pressing the save button. Novel.)

We celebrated Rex's Birthday. He's ten now, I think. Rex is Oli's stuffed dinosaur. We celebrate his birthday about four times per year. One day Oli will say "Mom! It's Rex's birthday!!" SO we'll decorate, find a desert, and have a party for him. Oliver is so sweet, how can you say no to that face?!
This is Kris's latest past time. It's a game that helps him practice his moves. He'll be in the NBA soon.
This is Luci, just coming up from the basement. She is completely terrified of the sound the grandfather clock makes down there. She says it's going to "get into her ears." Usually she wraps her head in her rainbow blanky ( the blanky) to go down, to protect against  "the" sound.
This is a picture I took of Eli for his Valentines class project. Yes, it looks like a mug shot. There is a good reason why I'm not a photographer. Eli is an awesome kid. I know it, but I am told so, EVERY time I enter his school, by a random faculty member. I'm not kidding. Somehow, I have raised a very popular kid. It must just be from Kris's side. ;)

I built this beauty, with just a little help from Kris! It was a big deal for me, tools are intimidating!! (This is the brag post, ok?)
My little brother Matt was married in February. It was a nice wedding. It is SO very weird, that MATT is married!! In this picture is me, dad, Matt, Jake, and Kim.

Anyways, I'm going to try a lot harder to post, and to remember about the save button.

Eleanor

On July 5th, Eleanor was born. Birth is always nerve wracking, but in her case, it was downright scary. For two months befor she was born, she had stopped growing very fast. Every week I went to the Dr.'s office and had a non-stress test. In that time, I stopped doing anything that I thought might stress her out, (weeding, excercising ect.) and I ate everything. Nothing worked, every time we looked at her on the ultrasound, it was the same, she wasn't growing. The day before we decided to be induced, the ultra sound showed she was 5lbs 10 oz. I thought, that can't be right, the ultra sound is off. She'll be at least 6lbs.
I was induced on the morning of the 5th with pitosin. It seemed that every time I had a contraction, her heart rate dropped. The stronger the contractions got, the deeper her heartrate went down. Very scary. Dr. Hartman had the nurse stop the pitosin and wanted to try breaking my water and see if she would tolerate regular labor. He got the hook thing, looked like a crochet needle, and started trying to break my water. Right then, she started to flip. She was breech. I had to get a C-section. I got my epidural, and was wheeled into the opperating room.
The surgery was fine, I couldn't feel a thing. She was trying to crawl away from the Dr. or something cause he said something like, "little rat!" lol. When he got her out and they weighed her, she was 4lbs 6 oz. I was in pure shock. I heard a nurse say, "prep the NICU". I couldn't beleive it. How had this happened?! They hadn't grounded the scale so they weighed her again, and she was 4lbs, 7oz. JUST enough to go to the intermediate nursery instead. She was only there for a day, because she was completely healthy, other than being tiny. That day was the worst, I only got her to feed her, and I couldn't walk to see her because of the epidural.
We got to bring her home when I was discharged, which we found out later was a big deal, cause they don't normaly let babies that small go home.

It's been six weeks and she is already just under 9lbs! She's doing great! I'm SO grateful that everything turned out ok. These pictures were taken the day after she was born.

Some good news, and a dramatic re-telling of a true life event.

Turns out I don't have fungus on my hands. haHA! I went to the Dr. today. Turns out it's just eczema with a splash of alergies. So, just for all the people who were dying to know what was going on there...

Tomorrow I have pre-school again. We're going to plant wheat grass in the bottoms of milk cartons, and learn some interesting facts about bugs. I'm learning that with that age group, the grosser the material, the better. Last week we talked about beetles that roll poop into balls and keep it in their nest. The kids love hearing things like that.

Guess what I got for mother's day.... Don't be mad, and jealous, and hate me. A mountain bike!!!! Yeah, I'm not joking. I'm exceedingly happy about it. He said it's a mother's day/ birthday present. Works for me!

Yesterday was a good day. Except for that my head was decidedly on someone elses body. So, I'm a primary chorister. The senior primary were to sing a song in sacrement. I thought, no big deal, they'll go up sing, I'll lead, we'll sit down. Nope, I was supposed to get a pianist too. So after the kids were on the stand, I stood there like an idiot, looking out across the congregation looking for someone who might help me. Luckily there were a couple of women that came to my rescue. I found the song in the book and after what felt like eternity, standing in front of all those people, we sang the song, and sat. Man, seriously, people in my ward probably think I'm a moron. I'm slowly learning that I'm really in charge of things now that I'm an adult.

After church, we went to mom's for Mother's day dinner, and then stopped at Theo's and then Sandy's.  It was a good mother's day, I didn't even have to use my AK.

Mothers Day

Wednesday, May 4, 2011

I'm still here.

Oh great, four days without a post. Bad news folks, this post is going to be boring. I signed up to be a part of a neighborhood pre-school co-op last year in my old neighborhood. I'm in charge for the next couple of weeks. It completely consumes me. Trying to think of projects and fun games and stuff shouldn't be hard, but it kind of is. Those two little hours two days a week for the weeks I'm the teacher, stress me the crap out. As Eli would say, LAme. Anyways. That's what I'm up to, along with trying to spend as much time as I can outside while the sun is shining. So, yeah. I promise to get my act together with the ol' family blog.

I have an incredibly interesting life!

I just have no idea what to blog about today. Or yesterday. Or the day before. I had an idea for a family picture. We'll probably do that tomorrow. Tomorrow is compost in the garden day. I'm so excited! But serioiusly, the last few days, I've weeded and weeded and weeded. I dug a big hole in the yard with my kids and cleaned my living room and kitchen around thirty times. I know, amazing.

I found this on a joke website :

A mature lady gets pulled over for speeding...
Older Woman: Is there a problem, Officer?
Traffic Cop: Yes ma'am, I'm afraid you were speeding.
Older Woman: Oh, I see.
Traffic Cop: Can I see your license please?
Older Woman: Well, I would give it to you but I don't have one.
Traffic Cop: Don't have one?
Older Woman: No. I lost it 4 years ago for drunk driving.
Traffic Cop: I see...Can I see your vehicle registration papers please..
Older Woman: I can't do that.
Traffic Cop: Why not?
Older Woman: I stole this car.
Traffic Cop: Stole it?
Older Woman: Yes, and I killed and hacked up the owner.
Traffic Cop: You what!?
Older Woman: His body parts are in plastic bags in the trunk if you want to see
The traffic cop looks at the woman and slowly backs away to his car while calling for back up. Within minutes 5 police cars circle the car. A senior officer slowly approaches the car, clasping his half drawn gun.
Officer 2: Ma'am, could you step out of your vehicle please!
The woman steps out of her vehicle.
Older woman: Is there a problem sir?
Officer 2: My colleague here tells me that you have stolen this car and murdered the owner.
Older Woman: Murdered the owner? Are you serious?!
Officer 2: Yes, could you please open the trunk of your car, please.
The woman opens the trunk, revealing nothing but an empty trunk.
Officer 2: Is this your car, ma'am?
Older Woman: Yes, here are the registration papers.
The traffic cop is quite stunned.
Officer 2: My colleague claims that you do not have a driving license.
The woman digs into her handbag and pulls out a clutch purse and hands it to the officer.
The officer examines the license quizzically.
Officer 2: Thank you ma'am, but I am puzzled, as I was told by my officer here that you didn't have a license, that you stole this car, and that you murdered and hacked up the owner!
Older Woman: Bet the lying bastard told you I was speeding, too.

Disgusting things I feel you must know

For about the last seven or eight winters, the backs of my hands have gotten so dry that they itch, crack and bleed. Last week my mother in law suggested I try some tinactin on it. (yes, tough actin) I started putting it on them a few days ago and it is almost gone. Yes, it was FUNGUS on my hands for around eight years..

The other thing I feel you must witness is this...

This morning I found a steaming trail of hot mustard moony puke, all around the living room. I'm becoming less a fan of carpet every single second. I think I'd rather have linolium than carpet. The ugliest linolium you can think of, is what I'd prefer to carpet.
